various maintenance tasks
cloning a vm
Done mostly by Tjeerd:
- disable vm connect at power on
- modify:
/etc/hostname
/etc/network/interfaces
- unmount
/data
- shutdown
- delete old disk
- make new disk
- boot
- format/partition the new disk
- mount it at
/data
- fstab
What I did:
- certificate:
- create new cert for the machine - the CN has to be '<name of machine>.ic.uva.nl'
- create cert request with that cert and the CAcert already there
- send that to Bas, get an authorized cert back
- update the apache configs with the correct cert path (move cert files around first if you've been using temporary folders, which is wise)
- shit is reasonably self-explanatory from the configs
- sudo-edit the tomcat configs to add/remove users,
sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat7 restart
to apply
